Overview

The Preventative Maintenance and Custodial Worker at Bellingham Technical College is responsible for maintaining and repairing essential building systems and equipment while ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for the campus community. This role supports daily operations, responds to emergencies, and performs a variety of custodial and maintenance tasks.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on building support equipment
  • Operate hand and power tools for maintenance and cleaning
  • Conduct custodial tasks such as cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and common areas
  • Inspect and restock First Aid kits
  • Maintain inventory of custodial supplies
  • Organize and perform office and furniture moves
  • Monitor and maintain facilities, buildings, and grounds
  • Assist with setups for special activities and events
  • Operate forklifts for shipping and receiving as needed
  • Serve as a key member of the emergency management response team

Required skills

  • Basic mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills
  • Experience with standard cleaning methods and equipment
