Job Description

Overview

Bellingham Technical College is seeking a Preventative Maintenance and Custodial Worker to help maintain and repair essential building systems and equipment, support daily operations, and create a clean environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves both general maintenance and custodial tasks under general supervision.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on building support equipment
  • Carry out emergency or minor repairs on buildings and support equipment
  • Operate hand and power tools
  • Inspect and stock First Aid kits
  • Perform various custodial tasks including cleaning restrooms and floors
  • Maintain and organize inventory of custodial supplies
  • Use assigned custodial power equipment for floor and furniture maintenance
  • Assist with office moves and furniture relocations
  • Monitor and maintain facility buildings and grounds
  • Operate equipment for snow and ice control
  • Serve in emergency management response efforts as needed

Required skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in teams
  • Basic mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills
  • Standard cleaning methods and equipment
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Experience in custodial or general maintenance work
  • Proficiency in using various tools or equipment for maintenance

  • Monthly salary of $4,160
  • Work schedule generally Monday through Friday, 3 pm to 11 pm
  • 8 hours per month of sick leave
