Overview

Palo Alto Community Child Care is seeking an experienced Assistant Director for their Preschool program at Ellen Thacher Children's Center. This role involves managing daily operations, ensuring high-quality care and education for children, and fostering strong relationships with parents and staff.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in managing the daily operations of the Preschool program
  • Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans
  • Supervise and manage student behavior to ensure a safe and positive learning environment
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavior
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to meet program goals and objectives
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress
  • Lead on-floor programming and ensure ongoing, age-appropriate activities

Required skills

  • 24 ECE units including core units (Child Development; Curriculum; Child, Family & Community)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage and supervise student behavior
  • Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods
  • Ability to obtain Child Development Master Teacher Permit within one year of hire
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Bilingual skills are preferred
