Overview

The Preschool Assistant Director at Catherine Hershey School in Middletown, PA, will serve as the educational leader for the center, overseeing curriculum delivery and maintaining high-quality classroom environments. This role involves guiding the educational staff, supporting daily operations, and acting as a role model within the center while reporting to the Center Director.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Center Director in ensuring high-quality, child-centered education
  • Support the teaching team in curriculum application and classroom safety
  • Maintain and equip classrooms and additional learning environments
  • Develop and maintain teaching staff schedules
  • Manage future classroom projections and coordinate enrollment opportunities
  • Oversee child developmental assessments
  • Support timely communication with families
  • Implement onboarding and ongoing training for teaching staff
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures
  • Provide constructive feedback to direct reports through performance evaluations
  • Optimize daily operations and resolve inefficiencies
  • Build positive relationships with staff and stakeholders
  • Act as a liaison to the CHS Central Office
  • Perform other assigned duties

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in people management and conflict resolution
  • Comfortable with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to oversee a large department and multitask
  • Understanding of working with low-income families
  • U.S. work authorization

What the company offers

  • Salary range of $79,000 to $92,500 per year, based on expertise
