Overview

As a Power Electronics Research Engineer at GE Vernova, you will engage in the development of innovative power electronics concepts, including system modeling, simulation, and testing of power converters. This role emphasizes collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams to transition new technologies from concept to practical applications in power generation and distribution.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning and development of new power technologies with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Conduct modeling and simulation of power electronic circuits
  • Design, test, and characterize power converters and electronic devices
  • Develop and test control solutions for power converters
  • Prepare written reports and presentations to communicate results
  • Stay updated on technological advancements in the power electronics industry
  • Support proposal efforts for GE businesses and government agencies

Required skills

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of experience
  • 3+ years of experience in power electronics research and model simulation
  • 3+ years of experience in developing and testing power converters and devices
  • Familiarity with DC grid concepts and energy storage systems
  • Knowledge of microgrids and grid integration of renewables
  • Eligibility for U.S. Government security clearance
