Job Description

Overview

The Power Designer (Field + Design Hybrid) role at Sigma Technologies involves overseeing the entire lifecycle of utility pole design, from field data collection to producing construction-ready engineering deliverables. This position is primarily focused on project work in Northwestern Louisiana, Northeast Texas, and along the West Arkansas border, demanding travel for field surveys, with remote work for design tasks when not in the field.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct utility pole walkouts and field surveys for data collection
  • Verify field conditions, including pole ownership and equipment
  • Document existing field conditions and capture necessary data
  • Execute overhead distribution and make-ready designs in compliance with NESC
  • Perform pole loading analysis and clearance resolution
  • Develop construction-ready design packages
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and quality teams
  • Support quality control reviews

Required skills

  • Experience in power distribution design or make-ready engineering
  • Proficiency in CAD or MicroStation; familiarity with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc
  • Understanding of overhead power distribution construction practices
  • Ability to perform field data collection and utility pole walkouts
  • Knowledge of NESC standards and pole loading concepts
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel as needed for fieldwork
