Job Overview Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC), University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1938 and serves more than 30 hospitals in 18 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana. The Hoxworth Division of Research, is recruiting for a full-time (100 % FTE) Post Doc Fellow position in the laboratory of Dr. Xuefeng Wang, at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The successful candidate will join a team to conduct research in the study of cell mechanobiology and enzymology, with an emphasis in the biomechanical behaviors of blood cells, immune cells, and cancer cells. Using cutting-edge biosensors and microfluidics, the researcher will delve into understanding cellular forces during critical processes such as cell adhesion, platelet aggregation, and macrophage-mediated phagocytosis. The appointed postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for either developing new methods or exploring biomedical applications within this captivating realm of mechanobiology. Essential Functions Conduct research experiments in the field of cell mechanobiology, with an emphasis on blood cells such as platelets, monocytes, and T cells. Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research. Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results. Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise. Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed. Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well. Perform related duties based on departmental need.
