Job Description

Overview

The Secret Service is seeking dedicated individuals to serve as Police Officers in Washington, DC. This role involves critical protective duties, featuring a variety of assignments that include safeguarding key government locations and assisting with high-profile events.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, and the Main Treasury Building
  • Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A
  • Travel in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state missions

Required skills

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • At least 21 years old and under 40 years old
  • Firearm proficiency and ability to carry a firearm
  • Uncorrected visual acuity of 20/100 or better
  • Corrected visual acuity of 20/20 in each eye
  • Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in specified ranges
  • Must submit to a drug test and ongoing random drug testing
  • Complete 12 weeks of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center
  • Complete 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center
