Job Description

Overview

The United States Secret Service seeks a Police Officer to perform essential protective duties in Washington, DC, which includes securing prominent locations and supporting government missions. This role is suited for individuals who are courageous, intelligent, and determined to contribute to the agency's mission.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, and foreign diplomatic missions
  • Travel in support of Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state government missions
  • Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A

Required skills

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • At least 21 years old at application, under 40 at referral
  • Ability to carry and use a firearm with proficiency
  • Uncorrected visual acuity of 20/100 binocular or better
  • Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in specified ranges
  • Pass drug tests and complete intensive training programs
