Job Description

Overview

The Police Officer position with the United States Secret Service involves providing protection for key government locations and officials in Washington, D.C. Candidates may be eligible for a $75,000 recruitment incentive and are required to relocate to Washington, D.C.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, and foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C.
  • Travel in support of Presidential and foreign heads of state missions.
  • Enforce mandated protective responsibilities under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.

Required skills

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Age between 21 and 40 at the time of application
  • Firearms training and proficiency
  • Uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular
  • Corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
  • Ability to hear whispered voice at 15 feet without a hearing aid
  • Ability to pass drug tests
  • Completion of 12 weeks of training at FLETC and 17 weeks at the James J. Rowley Training Center
