Job Description

Overview

The Police Officer position at the United States Secret Service is a critical role that involves providing protection for key government locations and officials. Candidates must be prepared for relocation to Washington, DC and participate in extensive training.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, and other key government locations.
  • Travel in support of Presidential and foreign dignitary missions.
  • Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under federal law.

Required skills

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Age 21-40 at the time of application with exceptions for certain federal law enforcement experience
  • Ability to carry and use a firearm, with mandatory proficiency
  • Uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular
  • Corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
  • Hearing ability within specified decibel limits
  • Pass a drug test
  • Complete extensive training at federal training centers
