Job Description

Overview

The Police Officer position with the United States Secret Service involves performing protective duties primarily in Washington, DC. Officers are tasked with safeguarding key locations such as the White House Complex and foreign diplomatic missions, as well as traveling for high-level missions.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide protection for the White House Complex, Vice President's Residence, Main Treasury Building, and embassies in Washington, D.C.
  • Travel in support of presidential and foreign dignitaries' missions
  • Enforce protective responsibilities under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A

Required skills

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Age requirement (21-40 years old)
  • Firearm proficiency and ability to carry a firearm
  • Visual acuity requirements
  • Hearing capability as specified
  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Completion of intensive training at FLETC and specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center
