Overview

As a Police Officer (Lateral) with the City of San Luis, you will perform a variety of law enforcement duties including patrol, investigations, and traffic enforcement. Your role will involve enforcing laws, maintaining order, protecting life and property, and assisting in crime prevention activities within the local community.

Key responsibilities

  • Enforce laws and ordinances, maintain order, and protect life and property.
  • Patrol assigned areas and respond to calls for assistance.
  • Investigate crimes and suspicious activities, and gather evidence.
  • Prepare detailed reports of crimes and traffic complaints.
  • Conduct interviews and interrogations, and prepare material evidence for court.
  • Assist in special enforcement details and promote crime prevention programs.

Required skills

  • Knowledge of modern law enforcement methods and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with the public.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate evidence.
  • Experience in defensive tactics and emergency response.
  • Proficiency in report writing and maintaining records.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and procedures.
  • Fluency in English; Spanish fluency preferred.
