Overview

The City of North Kansas City, Missouri is seeking applications for the position of Police Officer. This role involves serving in a well-equipped law enforcement agency while protecting the community and enforcing laws. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to earn a cash incentive upon completing the Field Training Program if they are POST certified at the time of hire.

Key responsibilities

  • Patrol city streets, roadways, and public areas
  • Enforce traffic laws and direct traffic
  • Respond to calls for service and investigate crimes
  • Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects; gather evidence
  • Prepare detailed written reports
  • Apprehend offenders in accordance with constitutional standards
  • Demonstrate proficiency in firearms handling and report writing
  • Resolve conflicts and interact professionally with the public
  • Maintain knowledge of city geography and applicable laws
  • Make sound decisions under stressful conditions
  • Testify in court as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
