Overview

The Point of Care Medical Technologist Technical Specialist at UF Health assists the Supervisor in various planning, coordinating, and problem-solving tasks within the laboratory. This role involves instrument validation, quality control, and performing complex laboratory procedures to support diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist Supervisor in planning and coordinating laboratory activities
  • Involved with instrument validation and new procedure implementation
  • Perform laboratory procedures requiring advanced knowledge and skills
  • Operate lab instrumentation to provide clinical data
  • Make independent judgment decisions on test results
  • Set up and review Quality Control (QC) lots
  • Assist with staff competencies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Science or related field
  • Florida licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Supervisor
  • Hospitality training
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
