Overview

The Plant Trial Coordinator at Bailey Nurseries plays a vital role in supporting the company's innovation pipeline through the coordination of various plant trials. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure trials are conducted accurately and align with product development goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and assist with crop planning, plant scheduling, and labor coordination for trials
  • Schedule and coordinate advanced trials, external trials, and grower events
  • Oversee trial areas and monitor plant care through regular crop walks
  • Work with production crews on planting, propagating, and maintaining trials
  • Collect and maintain accurate trial data and manage trial inventory
  • Collaborate with the Propagation team and track propagation and production trials
  • Coordinate quarantine shipments and maintain quarantine material
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external trial tours
  • Maintain Product Development documentation and support administrative tasks

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in growing, trialing, or propagation
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Strong plant knowledge, particularly woody shrubs, trees, and perennials
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365; experience with trial/data management tools like Mercado
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
