Overview

The Plant Mechanic role at Cargill involves supporting the company's protein and salt business. This position is focused on maintaining and troubleshooting machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, contributing to safe and sustainable food production.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on industrial machinery
  • Operate heavy machinery, including forklifts and other automated equipment
  • Conduct daily setup of work areas and ensure cleanliness and safety protocols
  • Utilize a variety of tools and retrieve necessary parts for maintenance tasks
  • Participate in safety teams and maintain compliance with safety and food quality standards

Required skills

  • Mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot
  • Knowledge of automated industrial machinery including motors and controls
  • Strong PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft OS
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Knowledge of safety protocols
