Overview

The Plant Mechanic at West Fraser in Jacksonville, Florida, is responsible for the operation and maintenance of planer machines within the lumber processing facility. This role requires adherence to safety procedures, regular preventive maintenance, and cooperation with the maintenance department for major repairs.

Key responsibilities

  • Feed the planer and ensure constant lumber flow
  • Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on the machine
  • Maintain proper setup and operation of the planer to achieve a quality finish
  • Assist maintenance with major repairs of machines
  • Maintain cleanliness and adhere to housekeeping duties as assigned
  • Complete West Fraser Qualified Millwright training and conduct millwright duties
