Overview

The Plant Engineering Manager at San Juan Regional Medical Center is responsible for overseeing the Plant Engineering Department, ensuring that healthcare facilities are safe, comfortable, and operate at high standards. The role involves managing staff, coordinating maintenance tasks, and supporting various engineering projects within the medical center.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Engineering Supervisor and coordinate staff activities
  • Assist with interviewing and training new personnel
  • Enforce departmental policies and perform inspections of crew work
  • Manage the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Oversee departmental budgeting and performance goals
  • Plan and monitor special projects and their priority schedules
  • Ensure compliance with safety and health standards
  • Direct preparation of reports for upper management
  • Commit to continuous improvement in all job aspects

Required skills

  • Experience in building maintenance or construction management
  • Knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and CMMS
  • Strong human relations and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Financial management experience
  • Certification as a Healthcare Facilities Manager (preferred)
  • Professional Engineering registration (a plus)
  • Demonstrated initiative and program management experience
