Overview

The Plant Engineering Manager at San Juan Regional Medical Center is responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient healthcare environment in all properties managed by the department. This role involves supervising maintenance operations and managing a team to uphold the facility's standards while fostering an attitude of helpfulness and service within a healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Support Engineering Supervisor and Production Control staff
  • Assist in interviewing and training new employees
  • Serve as a second line supervisor for personnel issues
  • Review and update departmental policies
  • Perform quality control inspections of work done by crews
  • Ensure work is completed safely and meets established codes and standards
  • Manage the CMMS for tracking maintenance records
  • Plan and prioritize special projects
  • Develop and manage the department budget
  • Guide staff development and performance improvement

Required skills

  • 5+ years experience in building and grounds maintenance or construction
  • 2+ years experience in healthcare facilities maintenance or engineering
  • Program management experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Computer applications experience (Microsoft Word, Excel, CMMS)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Experience in financial management
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
