Overview

The Plant Controller at Ventek Solutions in Owosso, MI, acts as the financial leader for the manufacturing facility, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and driving operational efficiency. This role involves extensive collaboration with plant, sales, and corporate leadership to manage costs and deliver actionable insights to support profitable growth and decision-making.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end closing process focused on accuracy and GAAP compliance
  • Perform journal entries, accruals, and oversee balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets
  • Orchestrate annual plant budgeting and develop rolling forecasts
  • Oversee financial lifecycle of capital expenditures from ROI modeling to audits
  • Maintain standard costing systems and ensure accurate inventory valuation
  • Analyze variances and perform detailed margin analysis
  • Support monthly inventory counts and address key variances
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to manage costs
  • Provide accurate cost data to Sales and Pricing teams
  • Collaborate on pricing strategies and discount structures
  • Translate sales forecasts into production and cost implications
  • Engage with leadership on profitability targets and cost-reduction actions
  • Support major commercial decisions and new product launches
  • Lead monthly financial reviews with plant leadership

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • 3 years in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Deep proficiency in cost accounting and margin analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems
  • Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred
