Overview

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Plant Controller for a leading food manufacturer in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. This role combines commercial finance, operations support, and business performance insights, aiming to enhance plant reporting and decision-making processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to improve plant reporting for better business decisions
  • Support the month-end financial statement close process
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis as required by various departments
  • Provide analysis to support plant decisions including capital acquisitions and ROI
  • Develop tools and reports to assist plant supervision
  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and support payroll functions
  • Participate in continuous improvement meetings and identify cost reduction areas
  • Lead and develop accounting staff in automation and process improvements

Required skills

  • CPA designation (Canadian or internationally recognized equivalent)
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably food manufacturing
  • Strong expertise in cost accounting including standard costing and activity based costing
  • Supervisory or team lead experience in accounting or finance
