Overview

The H&K Group is seeking a Pipe Laborer to join their Harrisburg Division in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania. This role involves working on construction projects in a utility capacity, performing various tasks as needed, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Acquire tools needed for daily operations
  • Measure distances from grade stakes and drive stakes
  • Signal operators of construction equipment for alignment and movement
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications
  • Mix concrete and smooth finishes on freshly poured cement or concrete
  • Position, join, align, and seal pipe sections
  • Get job set up for daily function like setting up a pipe laser
  • Operate equipment for backfilling duties and prep pipe for connection
  • Perform connection of pipe work and check for proper pipe slope

Required skills

  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving
  • Ability to utilize appropriate PPE and meet physical requirements
  • Experience in heavy highway construction (preferred)
  • Knowledge of underground utilities such as storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main
