Overview

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking a civilian Radiation Oncology Physicist for a full-time position at Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. The role involves providing clinical expertise in radiation therapy, ensuring the quality and safety of treatment equipment, and collaborating with the treatment planning team while maintaining a work-life balance in a structured setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide clinical expertise for the purchase and upgrading of radiation therapy equipment.
  • Conduct acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and periodic quality assurance of equipment.
  • Measure and analyze beam data for treatment machines.
  • Work with the treatment planning team to establish procedures for treatment planning and delivery.
  • Perform and direct determination of radiation dose distributions for patients.
  • Ensure accuracy of treatment plans, dosimetry calculations, and documentation.
  • Maintain function and operation of various radiation therapy technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation monitoring, quality assurance, and safety regulations.
  • Accountable to the Chief of Radiation Oncology and direct the Radiation Oncology Physics program.

Required skills

  • Certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Medical Physics
  • Master's degree in Physics
  • Experience in Radiation Oncology
  • Knowledge of medical physics and quality assurance
  • Familiarity with treatment planning systems and radiation safety standards
