Job Description

Overview

The Physical Therapist (PT) in the NICU at Baptist Health System is responsible for the administration, interpretation, and evaluation of assessments in the NICU setting. This role involves working with neonatal and pediatric patients to develop and modify treatment programs as part of a multidisciplinary care team, ensuring evidence-based and individualized care.

Key responsibilities

  • Administers and interprets tests and measurements of patients
  • Plans and modifies treatment programs based on individual patient needs
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to set developmental goals
  • Instructs and involves family and staff in patient progress and discharge plans
  • Maintains documentation on all treatments
  • Assures proper equipment performance prior to use
  • Organizes scheduling based on patient priorities and departmental needs
  • Provides in-service education to staff and observes Therapy students
  • Maintains a safe environment and addresses population-specific needs
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical or Occupational Therapy
  • Current Texas State license in Speech
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
  • Pediatric experience or clinical observation
  • Spanish proficiency preferred
  • Master's or Doctorate in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy preferred
  • Certified Neonatal Therapist and additional relevant certifications preferred
  • BLS certification obtained through approved training center
