Overview

The Phlebotomy Support Technician I/II at Cox Monett Hospital is responsible for the collection, processing, and accurate labeling of blood and other specimens. This role involves ensuring proper specimen collection techniques, managing information systems, and collaborating with healthcare teams to provide excellent patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect and process blood and other specimens as directed
  • Confirm patient identification and ensure use of proper tubes for specimen collection
  • Accurately label specimens to ensure correct patient results
  • Process specimens appropriately for subsequent testing
  • Accession, update information, and make corrections to orders as needed

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3 months phlebotomy experience in a laboratory setting for Tech II
  • 6 months phlebotomy experience or 1 year related experience for Tech I
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams
  • Proficient in using computers and computer systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills
