Overview

The Pharmacy Buyer Supervisor at UVM Medical Center plays a crucial role in ensuring the procurement and acquisition processes of medications are efficiently managed across the hospital. This position oversees the stocking and distribution of various medications and works collaboratively with multiple departments and vendors to maintain optimal inventory levels and workflows.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure the procurement and acquisition of medications for the pharmacy department
  • Oversee distribution management and set par levels for clinics
  • Coordinate workflows in the storeroom and manage emergency requests
  • Work with multiple systems to prepare medications for bedside administration
  • Supervise and train Inventory Compliance Specialists
  • Manage consignment factor and liaise with the hemophilia team
  • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, committees, and healthcare staff
  • Address medication shortages and drug recalls

Required skills

  • Associates degree in business or relevant coursework
  • Pharmacy Technician license in Vermont
  • Experience with computerized purchasing and pharmacy inventory systems
  • 2-4 years of experience in inventory/stocking systems or pharmacy medication acquisition
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • 3-5 years of pharmacy experience
  • Knowledge of 340B programs preferred
