Overview

The Personal Injury Billing and Collections Representative at Progressive Spine and Orthopaedics LLC is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of billing and collections for personal injury medical claims. This role involves close collaboration with attorneys, insurance adjusters, and patients to ensure accurate account documentation and timely recovery of outstanding balances related to injury-related treatments.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding personal injury accounts, liens, and settlements
  • Communicate with attorneys, insurance adjusters, and patients regarding case status and payments
  • Track personal injury claims from service date through settlement
  • Ensure accurate billing for injury-related services
  • Submit itemized bills and supporting documentation to attorneys and insurance carriers
  • Maintain communication with attorney offices regarding open cases and payment updates
  • Negotiate lien reductions and resolve disputed balances
  • Investigate issues affecting payment and collaborate with billing and clinical teams
  • Maintain accurate records of collection activity and generate reports
  • Reconcile received payments against outstanding balances

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of medical billing and collections experience
  • Strong personal injury billing and collections experience
  • Experience with attorneys, liens, and third-party liability claims
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, EOBs, and medical documentation
  • Experience with medical billing software and EHR systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills
  • Detail-oriented problem-solving abilities
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
