Overview

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking a Permanent Substitute Teacher to support high school students in a special education environment. The role focuses on delivering personalized education, fostering student success, and collaborating with educational professionals to implement individualized strategies aligned with each student's needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver personalized support and guidance to high school students in special education
  • Implement engaging curriculum and behavioral intervention strategies aligned with IEPs
  • Consult with supervisors on student progress and necessary adjustments
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student behaviors and provide insights for assessments
  • Facilitate vocational training and job coaching for students
  • Ensure classroom safety and provide crisis intervention when necessary
  • Assist with physical care needs of students
  • Support classroom operations and manage records effectively

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or related field
  • Ability to obtain CA 'Emergency 30 Day Sub Permit'
  • Valid CA state driver's license
  • Minimum 3 years of prior experience in education or special education
  • Experience with students with learning disabilities or emotional disorders
  • Advanced communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in using technology including Microsoft Office Suite
