Overview

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking a Permanent Substitute Teacher for their special education program in Antioch, California. The role involves providing personalized support to high school students with special needs, collaborating with teachers to implement individualized educational strategies, and fostering student success in both classroom and community settings.

Key responsibilities

  • Implement personalized curriculum and behavioral intervention strategies aligned with each student's IEP and transition plans.
  • Consult with supervisors regarding student progress and adjustments to educational plans.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of student behaviors and recommend strategies based on observations.
  • Participate in data collection and analysis for functional behavioral assessments.
  • Facilitate vocational training and job coaching for students.
  • Ensure student safety and manage classroom environments effectively.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies.
  • Assist with classroom operations and special projects as needed, including substitute teaching responsibilities.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • Emergency 30 Day Sub Permit (ability to obtain within 90 days).
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database entry.
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergencies.
