Job Description

Overview

SSM Health is seeking a Perfusionist to operate extracorporeal circulation equipment at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. This full-time position includes flexible hours and a weekend and call rotation, and a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 is available for qualified applicants.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare for procedures by performing patient assessments
  • Monitor patient's anticoagulation, electrolyte, acid-base, and blood-gas status during procedures
  • Set up and operate extracorporeal devices for cardiac or pulmonary support
  • Administer pharmacological and anesthetic agents as necessary
  • Set up and initiate intra-aortic balloon pump therapy
  • Ensure perfusion packs and equipment are available for surgeries
  • Perform maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of equipment
  • Document assessments and procedures accurately

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited Perfusion Program
  • Wisconsin Perfusionist license
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification
  • Certified Clinical Perfusionist certification
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Strong communication skills for sharing information
