Job Description

Overview

The Per Diem Program Aide at the West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of a residential facility. This position involves promoting resident safety, stability, and well-being through direct engagement and assistance with residents' needs while collaborating closely with Property Management and Clinical/Social Services staff.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain a consistent on-site presence to support resident safety and engagement
  • Provide non-clinical assistance to residents, answering questions and connecting them to resources
  • Conduct routine rounds of common areas and report safety or maintenance concerns
  • Respond to incidents and resident needs using de-escalation techniques
  • Support front desk operations and assist with administrative tasks as assigned
  • Assist with resident communications, move-in/out support, and community activities
  • Escort residents to medical and other appointments as needed

Required skills

  • Empathy and professionalism when engaging older adults or vulnerable populations
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and use de-escalation techniques
  • Good judgment and capability to follow protocols and document accurately
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations
  • Dependability and ability to work scheduled shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Experience working in residential services or supportive housing
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
