Overview

Klamath Basin Behavioral Health is seeking a Peer Support Specialist for their Substance Use Disorders (SUDS) team. This full-time role focuses on providing compassionate support and guidance to individuals affected by substance use disorders, using personal recovery experiences to encourage and promote pathways to recovery and wellness.

Key responsibilities

  • Build supportive relationships with peers in various settings including homes and clinics.
  • Provide emotional support during clinic visits to empower peers.
  • Facilitate or co-lead peer support groups for growth and connection.
  • Assist peers in setting recovery goals and navigating resources.
  • Ensure ongoing connection to community resources through follow-up support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and agency requirements.

Required skills

  • Experience in mental health services or recovery from substance use disorder.
  • Certified Peer Support Specialist Addiction certification.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and empathy skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and community outreach strategies.
