Job Description

Overview

The Pediatrics Physician Assistant at UC Davis Health will provide independent advanced practice clinical expertise to pediatric patients and their families. The role involves managing chronic and acute medical conditions, performing procedures, and participating in patient and staff education while working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver care to a diverse patient population.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in inpatient settings, including surgical and medical services
  • Order medications and diagnostic testing, and interpret laboratory values
  • Consult and communicate with patients, families, and other healthcare providers
  • Participate in admission, transfer, and discharge planning
  • Document care through daily progress and procedure notes
  • Educate patients, families, and medical staff
  • Engage in quality improvement studies and evidence-based practice

Required skills

  • California Licensed Physician Assistant (PA)
  • National PA board certification
  • DEA Certificate
  • BLS certification
  • PALS certification
  • Master's degree or PhD from an accredited PA program
  • Two or more years of experience in acute care pediatrics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent judgement and organizational skills
