Job Description

Overview

The Payroll Tax Compliance Analyst will join the Accounting department of a global law firm in a remote role. This professional will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax legislation by monitoring employer and employee tax contributions and reconciliations firm-wide.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate multi-jurisdiction payroll tax data and calculations for accurate reporting
  • Prepare and process federal, multi-state, and multi-jurisdiction withholding tax payments
  • Manage correspondence with payroll platforms like Workday and ADP regarding compliance notices
  • Reconcile third-party tax reports with Workday tax reports for quarterly and year-end reporting
  • Conduct detailed analysis of payroll entries affecting tax withholding accuracy
  • Document and review payroll tax processing and reconciliation procedures
  • Collaborate with the Director, Payroll team, and General Ledger Team to ensure process accuracy
  • Stay updated on legislative changes and various tax rates in Workday and ADP

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • At least five years of payroll and tax experience
  • Three or more years' experience with multi-state payroll tax
  • Advanced expertise with HRIS-Workday
  • Fluency with Excel
  • Ability to present technical data concisely to stakeholders
  • Discretion in maintaining confidential information
