Job Description

Overview

The Payroll Specialist at A.O. Smith will play a crucial role in processing full-cycle payroll for employees and retirees, while ensuring compliance with internal policies and relevant federal and state regulations. This position involves coordination with various departments and serving as a resource for the Time & Attendance system.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll for U.S. employees and retirees
  • Support and collaborate with other payroll processors
  • Validate and submit periodic payroll tax reporting
  • Assist with quarterly tax filing for U.S. business units
  • Participate in testing and completing payroll system updates
  • Provide support to corporate and site-level business units
  • Handle payroll customer service calls
  • Prepare reports on payroll expenditures
  • Assist in processing and distribution of year-end reporting
  • Support the training and development of payroll platform updates

Required skills

  • 3+ years of experience with HRIS/Payroll systems (e.g., Success Factors, Workday, ADP, UKG)
  • Expert knowledge of FLSA and DOL payroll regulations
  • Advanced training and customer support skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Maturity and discretion for handling confidential information
  • Team-oriented with interpersonal skills
