Overview

The American Management Association is seeking a Payroll Specialist in Saranac Lake, New York, responsible for the accurate processing of bi-weekly payrolls. This role involves managing payroll records, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and providing support to the HR department.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure timely compensation payments to employees
  • Process payrolls through a third-party provider
  • Prepare journal entries for employee payroll costs
  • Oversee quarterly and annual payroll tax returns and compliance reporting
  • Review timecard entries for completeness and appropriateness
  • Maintain automated PTO records for employees
  • Prepare and submit various deductions to appropriate agencies
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet and P&L accounts related to payroll transactions
  • Prepare reports and analyses for auditors during annual audits
  • Train new hires and colleagues on timecard procedures
  • Assist HR with compliance of company policies with state and federal laws

Required skills

  • 2-year degree in a business field or 4-year degree in business
  • 2 years of relevant payroll experience
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and financial transactions
  • Familiarity with ADP software
  • Above-average MS Excel proficiency
