Job Description

Overview

A.O. Smith is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage full-cycle payroll processing for employees and retirees across various locations. This role also includes supporting the Time & Attendance system and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll for U.S. employees and retirees.
  • Support and collaborate with other payroll processors.
  • Validate and submit payroll tax reporting for employees and retirees.
  • Assist with quarterly tax filing for U.S. business units.
  • Participate in testing and completing payroll system updates.
  • Provide support to corporate and site-level business units, including HR, Benefits, and Finance.
  • Handle payroll customer service inquiries.
  • Prepare reports on payroll expenditures and tax payments.
  • Assist with year-end reporting including W-2's and 1099R's.
  • Support and train users on UKG Workforce Management modules.

Required skills

  • 3+ years experience with HRIS/Payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, and UKG.
  • Expert knowledge of payroll regulations (FLSA, DOL).
  • Advanced training and customer support skills.
  • Experience in balancing and processing full-cycle payroll.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
