Job Description

Overview

The Payroll Manager at Whidbey General Hospital is responsible for overseeing the payroll function, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with various regulations. This role involves collaboration with HR, maintaining payroll records, and implementing process improvements while supporting payroll operations for hospital employees.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all payroll operations for the Hospital District.
  • Process and validate payroll transactions including wages, overtime, and stipends.
  • Calculate payroll liabilities and prepare payroll tax filings.
  • Reconcile payroll transactions to the general ledger.
  • Serve as the business owner and subject matter expert for the payroll system.
  • Supervise payroll staff including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with HR and IT to ensure accurate data integration.
  • Administer and reconcile HSA and FSA plans.
  • Ensure compliance with state reporting requirements.
  • Lead the administration of retroactive payroll adjustments.
  • Analyze payroll data and recommend process improvements.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum five years of payroll experience including payroll processing and accounting.
  • Supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Experience in a unionized or healthcare environment preferred.
  • Proficient with payroll systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong time management and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to interpret laws, policies, and procedures while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Salary range: $117,965.00 - $140,129.76 Annual
  • Benefit eligible for employees working 0.6 FTE or higher
