Overview

The H&K Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Paving/Roller Operator for their Maryland Division in Finksburg. This role involves operating roller equipment and performing various paving activities to achieve production goals on road construction projects, with flexibility to adapt to changing tasks as needed.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate roller machine on road construction projects
  • Perform daily checks on equipment for proper operating condition
  • Maintain equipment by greasing and checking fluids
  • Assist with pre-run markings and fine grading
  • Shovel asphalt as required
  • Direct traffic around the work area
  • Notify shop foreman of maintenance or repair needs
  • Ensure equipment is safely parked and stored

Required skills

  • Experience with roller machines on highway road construction
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Meet physical requirements involving movement and lifting
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience with other heavy equipment in highway road construction
  • OSHA or relevant safety certifications
