Job Description

Overview

The H&K Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Paving/Roller Operator for their Hazleton Division in Pennsylvania. The role involves operating roller equipment and performing various paving activities to meet daily production goals on road construction projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate roller machine on road construction projects
  • Perform daily checks on equipment to ensure proper operating condition
  • Maintain equipment by greasing and checking fluids daily
  • Notify shop foreman of maintenance or repair needs
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications
  • Assist with pre-run markings and use a paving lute for fine grading
  • Operate vibratory plate as needed
  • Shovel asphalt as required
  • Direct traffic around work area
  • Other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Experience with roller machines on highway road construction projects
  • Experience raking and shoveling asphalt
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions
  • Ability to meet physical requirements for the job
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications preferred
  • Experience with other heavy equipment commonly used in highway road construction
