Overview

The Patrol Manager at Solitude Mountain Resort is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing daily ski patrol and summer bike patrol operations. This position involves managing staffing, training, emergency response, and operational readiness while ensuring a safety-focused and guest-service-oriented culture throughout year-round mountain operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage daily patrol operations and staff for both winter ski patrol and summer bike patrol
  • Coordinate hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluations of patrol staff
  • Support emergency response planning and risk management initiatives
  • Oversee avalanche mitigation operations and collaborate with other departments
  • Lead mountain safety initiatives and provide guest education on safety measures
  • Perform ski patrol duties including emergency medical care and incident documentation
  • Participate in rescue operations and incident investigations
  • Maintain professional relationships with employees and external partners

Required skills

  • Minimum 8 years of ski patrol experience
  • 3-5 years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Avalanche Pro 1 certification; Pro 2 preferred
  • Current Utah EMT certification and BLS CPR certification
  • Expert skiing and downhill mountain biking abilities
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Proficiency in scheduling, payroll, HR systems, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work extended hours and in variable terrain and weather conditions
