Overview

The Patient Financial Navigator (PFN) at CoxHealth assists patients and their families in navigating financial resources, focusing on uninsured or under-insured individuals. This role involves determining eligibility for financial assistance, verifying insurance coverage, and acting as a liaison between patients and financial services to advocate for their financial needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist patients and families in accessing financial resources
  • Evaluate financial situations of uninsured or under-insured patients
  • Determine eligibility for financial assistance and enroll patients in government programs
  • Answer patient and family inquiries regarding insurance coverage and financial responsibility estimates
  • Liaison with Patient Financial Services and Care Management for cash flow and reimbursement
  • Advocate for patients to resolve financial liabilities

Required skills

  • 1-2 years of customer service experience, preferably in healthcare or insurance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Teamwork and collaborative skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with the insurance industry and collection process
