Overview

The Patient Access Specialist role at Ensemble Health Partners is an entry-level position focused on performing admitting duties for patients at HSHS- St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, IL. The representative ensures compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements while providing excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform admitting duties for all patients at the hospital
  • Assign accurate MRNs and complete medical necessity/compliance checks
  • Collect insurance information and process physician orders
  • Maintain communication via telephone switchboard to relay calls
  • Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems for account corrections
  • Conduct audits to ensure forms are completed accurately and on time
  • Pre-register patient accounts and collect demographic and financial information
  • Explain and obtain necessary signatures for consent forms
  • Review insurance eligibility and enter benefit data into the system
  • Screen medical necessity using the ABN software and provide necessary documentation
