Overview

The Patient Access Specialist at Ensemble Health Partners is an entry-level position responsible for performing admitting duties for patients at Bon Secours - Harbour View Medical Center in Suffolk, VA. This role ensures compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements while providing excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for services
  • Assign accurate MRNs and complete medical necessity/compliance checks
  • Collect insurance information and process physician orders
  • Operate the telephone switchboard for incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls
  • Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems for account corrections
  • Pre-register patient accounts and collect demographic and insurance information
  • Explain consent forms and distribute patient education documents
  • Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system
  • Screen medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software
