Job Description

Overview

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional to join their mission-driven Special Education team in Fairfield, California. This hands-on, student-centered role supports K-12 students with diverse learning and behavioral needs, offering a meaningful impact in an active environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Implement individualized instruction aligned with each student's IEP, ITP, and PBIP.
  • Support academic, social, vocational, and community-based learning activities.
  • Assist with student transitions to mainstream school settings or adult programs.
  • Proactively monitor student behavior and ensure a safe, structured environment.
  • Utilize approved de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques when necessary.
  • Provide personal care support as needed (e.g., hygiene, feeding, medication assistance).
  • Collect, record, and maintain accurate student data and behavioral documentation.
  • Contribute to progress reports and behavioral planning.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, supervisors, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Support classroom organization, materials preparation, and daily operations.
  • Serve as the primary instructor and classroom lead in the teacher's absence.
  • Assist with staff onboarding and classroom orientation.
  • Support transportation and supervision of students during school routes.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a related field
  • Ability to obtain a CA 'Emergency 30 Day Sub Permit' within 90 days
  • Valid CA state driver's license
  • Certification in company-approved crisis management training
  • Experience working with children in special education or behavioral health
  • Familiarity with classroom management and data collection
