Overview

R.L. Barclay & Associates is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their boutique law firm in Houston. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys and ensuring the smooth operation of courtroom proceedings in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Draft, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and correspondence
  • Manage and organize case files using the firm's document management system
  • Coordinate and track litigation deadlines across multiple active matters
  • Assist with e-discovery production including collection coordination and document review support
  • Prepare and index deposition, hearing, and trial exhibits
  • Assist with mediation and trial preparation including exhibit binders and witness files
  • Assist attorneys at hearings and trials as needed
  • Coordinate logistics for out-of-town hearings, depositions, and trials
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, co-counsel, courts, and vendors
  • E-file documents in state and federal courts
  • Maintain accurate records of billable time

Required skills

  • 3+ years of experience in civil defense litigation
  • Paralegal certificate or Associates/Bachelors degree, or 5+ years as a litigation paralegal
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
