Overview

Our client, a well-established Houston-area law firm, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented PERM Labor Certification Paralegal to join its Immigration Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have experience handling employment-based immigration matters, with a strong emphasis on the PERM labor certification process.The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys, employers, foreign national employees, and other members of the legal team to manage PERM cases from initiation through filing and will assist with related employment-based immigrant visa matters. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage PERM Labor Certification cases from initial case intake through filing with the U.S. Department of Labor.Work closely with attorneys and clients to gather information and documentation necessary to prepare and file PERM applications.Assist with determining and documenting job requirements, minimum qualifications, and employment history for PERM cases.Prepare and coordinate prevailing wage determination requests.Assist with the recruitment process, including preparing recruitment advertisements and coordinating required recruitment activities.Track recruitment timelines and ensure compliance with all applicable PERM recruitment and filing deadlines.Review recruitment documentation and maintain complete and accurate audit files.Prepare and organize PERM Labor Certification applications for attorney review and filing.Communicate regularly with corporate clients, human resources representatives, foreign national employees, and other parties involved in the immigration process.Monitor case status and maintain accurate information in the firm's case management system.Assist attorneys with responses to audits, supervised recruitment, and other requests from government agencies.Assist with related employment-based immigration matters, including immigrant visa petitions and adjustment of status applications, as needed.Maintain organized electronic and physical client files.Stay current on immigration procedures, filing requirements, and changes affecting PERM Labor Certification cases.Provide exceptional client service while managing multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications A minimum of 3+ years of experience as an Immigration Paralegal, with significant experience handling PERM Labor Certification cases.Thorough understanding of the PERM Labor Certification process and related Department of Labor requirements.Experience with prevailing wage determinations, recruitment requirements, ETA Form 9089, and PERM audit files.Experience assisting with employment-based immigrant visa matters is strongly preferred.Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while meeting strict deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong client service and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and immigration case management software. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred.Experience working in a law firm immigration practice or business immigration environment.Familiarity with employment-based immigrant visa petitions, including I-140 petitions, is a plus. This individual must be comfortable managing multiple matters simultaneously, communicating with sophisticated corporate clients, and working closely with attorneys to ensure cases are handled accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable immigration regulations.
