Overview

A well-established Houston law firm is seeking an experienced Removal Paralegal to support their removal defense practice. The ideal candidate has at least five years of direct experience working with removal attorneys, can independently manage a busy docket, and communicates confidently and compassionately with Spanish-speaking clients. Responsibilities Manage active removal-defense dockets, court deadlines, hearing dates, filing calendars, and attorney reminders.Prepare, organize, and file pleadings, applications, motions, briefs, exhibits, and supporting documentation with EOIR, the BIA, USCIS, and other appropriate agencies under attorney supervision.Monitor case status, court notices, filing receipts, and changes in deadlines; promptly escalate urgent issues to the supervising attorney.Maintain complete, accurate, and well-organized electronic and physical case files, including correspondence, evidence, court documents, and filing confirmations.Communicate regularly with clients in English and Spanish to gather information and documents, explain procedural next steps, and provide case-status updates as directed by the attorney.Coordinate attorney preparation for master calendar hearings, individual hearings, interviews, and case strategy meetings.Review filings for completeness, formatting, consistency, and compliance with applicable court and agency requirements before submission.Work collaboratively with attorneys, legal assistants, interpreters, and other team members while protecting client confidentiality.Assist attorneys with all aspects of immigration removal (deportation defense) cases. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of immigration paralegal experience, with a strong emphasis on immigration removal (deportation defense) cases.Thorough knowledge of immigration court procedures and immigration law.Experience preparing filings for the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and USCIS.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and immigration case management software.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and support staff.Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
