Job Description

Overview

KanPak LLC is looking for a Packaging Development Engineer II to optimize and improve packaging systems in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. The engineer will ensure packaging solutions are safe, compliant, and cost-effective while driving improvements in line performance and product quality through data-driven analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new or modified packaging solutions.
  • Develop and execute packaging concepts and prototypes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support commercialization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze packaging line performance data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Design and execute experiments to optimize equipment and processes.
  • Plan and support packaging audits and trials.
  • Define pallet configurations and packaging standards.
  • Support capital projects related to packaging.
  • Maintain packaging specifications and documentation.
  • Conduct benchmarking studies of packaging technologies.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or related field.
  • 3-6 years of relevant packaging engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of packaging technologies and material performance.
  • Understanding of food safety principles and GMPs.
  • Experience with high-speed packaging equipment.
  • Proficiency in experimental design, SPC, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of packaging regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM fundamentals.
  • Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with tools like Minitab or Power BI.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
